SSI Scuba Diver: The Perfect Intro to Autonomous Diving

Combining online and in-person learning, confined water sessions, and open sea dives, the SSI Scuba Diver program in Chania,is the ideal foundation for diving safely and confidently if you don’t have enough time to complete the full Open Water Diver course.

In this program, you will complete half of the Open Water Diver training and can upgrade your certification easily later. You simply need to complete the remaining theory modules, confined water sessions, and two open water dives.

* Students under 15 years old are certified as Junior Scuba Divers.

Course & Certification FAQs

Absolutely! Many students find it easier to learn in a relaxed holiday environment with clear, warm waters. It allows you to focus entirely on your training while enjoying the beauty of Chania.

The main difference is autonomy. A Scuba Diver is certified to dive to 12m (40ft) always under the direct supervision of a Professional. An Open Water Diver is a fully autonomous certification allowing you to dive to 18m (60ft) with a certified buddy of equal or higher level.

For maximum safety, international guidelines recommend waiting at least 18 to 24 hours after your last dive before flying. Please plan your last day of diving accordingly.

Yes, we have professional female instructors on our team. If you feel more comfortable learning or diving with a woman, please let us know during your booking and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Yes, you can! This causes no issues at all with your experience or safety in the water. Our female members of staff are on hand daily to offer advice or answer any questions you may have.

Yes. We provide SSI certifications that are recognized globally. Once certified, you will be able to dive anywhere in the world and your digital credentials will be available via the MySSI app.
